Geocache Description:

Squeeze

I have noticed that the area on this side of the Cape Cod Canal near the Buzzards Bay Railroad Bridge did not have a hidden cache nearby, so I've created "Squeeze" and placed the cache in an area that has a few interesting man-made creations to observe. There is of course the 76 years old railroad bridge itself with its twin towers standing 271 feet high and a bridge span of over 500 feet and weighing over 2200 tons. It can usually be seen in operation between the hours of 5 and 7 pm in the evenings all year long, and at many more times of the day during the summer months when the dinner trains make their pass over the trestle on their way to Onset harbor.

The trail is very short but when you get near the cache zone you will be standing next to an old foundation about 20ft high with an elevated view that overlooks Main St. Buzzards Bay. I don't know the reason this wall might have been constructed but maybe it had something to do with the history of the canal or bridges. If any one has any ideas, it would be interesting to hear them.
In this same area there is an interesting, very clearly legible Corp Of Engineers surveyors marker which sometimes can be hard to find. Finally there is the canal itself and the bike path which alone can make coming to this area worth the visit.

After finding the cache or even following a DNF you can bike or stroll along the canal and you might happen to see tugboats pulling and pushing tankers, weekend sailors or world navigators, trawlers, and cruise ships all in the same day. "Squeeze" is my first hidden cache and was also the title of the 3rd episode during the 1st season of the X-Files which is one of my favorite TV series. I hope in the future to place more caches in the South Eastern Mass. area with similar X-files Themes and Titles.

From "Squeeze" SCULLY: You knew they wouldn't believe you, why did you push it? MULDER: Maybe I thought you caught the right guy. And maybe I run into so many people, who are hostile, just because they can't open their minds to the possibilities, that sometimes the need to mess with their heads, outweighs the millstone of humiliation.

I Hope you enjoy the cache.
