Geocache Description:

Just when you thought all the worthwhile cache locations with history were taken up...

The summer of 1969 was an iconic summer. Many people may only recall Woodstock. Little do locals know that we had our own. 50,000 people attended the 1969 Seattle Park Festival at the old Gold Creek Park. This was just a few weeks before the big one in NY. It was one of the few occasions Led Zeppelin and The Doors played together. 20 musicians total also included Chuck Berry, The Byrds, Chicago Transit Authority, Santana, Ike and Tina Turner. Not quite cool enough history? The engineers that built the Space Needle for the Worlds Fair in 1962 stayed at this location in RVs and bused in to Seattle. Check out the exact replica at the additional waypoint. This location is private to the club, but is viewable from the road. This Gold Creek Park was originally an amusement park in the mid-1960s. There was an ice rink in the big dome and a dance hall in the nearby building. Today, this is a private fitness and tennis club. Permission is granted by the club management. Per their request, cache is accessible M-F 5:30am - 10pm, Sat-Sun 8am-9pm. Please be very gentle with the cache container! Think "drawer". It tends to work best if you don't pull it out all the way.
