in our disclaimer.
This is a multi cache. The container is unique, about the size of a
1.5 pound can of coffee, it is matte (flat, not glossy) black with
markings noting it as a geocache find. It is hidden in the
Berkshire Valley Wildlife Management Area off of Route 15 South,
approx. .25 mile south of Berkshire Valley Road. Terrain has some
minor uphill or downhill, dirt and gravel.

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* UPDATE - 9/15/05*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
GPS reception for stage 1 is sporadic at best. The location of
stage 1 was revisited and 3 sets of 100 readings were taken and
averaged; 2 with just the gps and 1 with an external antenna. The
listed coordinates above have been corrected to the average of all
3 sets. Readings between 4-12 feet were found at GZ based on these.
If you have a hard time with obtaining readings, the hint for stage
1 is a dead giveaway, but feel free to use it. Enjoy!

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^* UPDATE - 1/10/06*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
Cache Maintenance Visit - Stage 1 was replaced by a camoflauged
Bison-type container. It is EXACTLY where the other container was
although this one is metal and secured. The final stage was fixed.
The container was a little more fragile than anticipated and
sustained some damage during caching. A problematic "part" was
removed and the cache container given some weatherproofing; PLEASE
re-hide as you found it (may take a minute or so to get the weather
protection situated).
Coordinates for Stage 1 may be off due to the seasonal change (I
was showing about 30' northwest of where I was supposed to be).
This is a tough signal area! No shame in using the clue if you
encounter the same.

While searching for another cache in the area, we decided to
explore this site. This is a Large WMA!
WARNING #1: Once you pass Berkshire Valley Road on Rt. 15
south, stay to the extreme right. The WMA has a very small
access driveway/roadway which comes up very quickly once you pass
the book binding business on the right - it is right UNDER
the billboards you see on the right; it is also shortly after the
large address marker "54". If you miss it, a “U”-turn is
available at the Picatinny Arsenal exit about .25 miles further
south. Once you enter, go as far as you can (a chain gate bordered
by two large rocks is the start. Parking is in the immediate
vicinity at N 40 55.563/W 074 35.674.
WARNING #2: Judging by all of the MANY expended shotgun
shells (various gauges and loads), this is an ACTIVE hunting
area in season - wear bright orange if you must cache during
hunting season, or , better yet, go on a Sunday when there is no
hunting allowed. The roadway is probably not maintained during
the winter (i.e., plowed). The cache may be temporarily disabled
due to seasonal in climate weather.
The cache container is unique and can be considered small. It has
been made to lock shut with about an eighth of a turn clockwise. To
close, line up the single dot on the top with the single dot on the
bottom (on one side) and the double dots with the double dots on
the other. The interior is slotted to fit back in. PLEASE
insure it is secured and returned as you found it.
The name relates to those of us who desire (or need) some caffeine
as a source of motivation, jump-starting or just plain “getting
going”..., and, what goes better with a ‘cup o’ joe’ than a ’piece
of cake’? It‘s your call, however, if this cache is INDEED a ’Piece
Of Cake’ or a ’Pain In The @**!’
All coordinates at all stages were measured with at least 100
averaged readings on a Garmin 60CS and checked against an Etrex and
Magellan Meridian. There are some discrepancies as vegetation and
canopy make signals hard to find in some areas. Hints are included
to help around these.
Stages 1 is a small/micro like a Bison container and secured so
animals cannot get it.
