A wilderness kayaking adventure in the heart of the metroplex!
Arlington gets its drinking water from Richland Chambers Reservior in Navarro County. The water is piped from East Texas and released into Village Creek where it then flows 3 miles north to Lake Arlington. When the outlet is open it supplies the creek with clear water for a nice paddle through beautiful shady woods, even in summer when most Texas creeks aren’t navigable. Several small rapids provide added excitement. If the outlet isn't open, be prepared for a fair bit of wading dragging your kayak through shallow areas.
The caches in this series are named in honor of several Native American tribes who took up residence along the shores of Village Creek in the mid-1800's after being displaced from their lands by encroaching settlers. They were eventually driven from the area following the Battle of Village Creek in 1841.
You'll need to exit your craft to grab the containers.
The other caches in this series are:
1. Paddling Village Creek: Caddo
2. Paddling Village Creek: Tonkawa
3. Paddling Village Creek: Cherokee
