The Grand Union Canal links Birmingham to London with a waterway
which is 145 miles long and contains 166 locks. This cache is one
of a series to be found along or close to the
Hertfordshire/Buckinghamshire stretch of the canal.
The co-ordinates given above will take you to Bottom Side Lock.
Looks like British Waterways have the same winning ways with naming
things as I do myself! You will need to pick up some numeric clues
to help you work out the final co-ordinates for the cache.
The sign proclaims that this is lock number AB
There is a date to be found at the top gates of the lock and
another by the bottom gates. Did it really take then seven years to
build the lock I wonder? The later date is 1C7D and
the earlier date is 186E
Work the numbers into the formula to get the final cache
co-ordinates
N51 45.(E-C)(C/2)C W000 32.(D-3)(B-1)(A-4)
You are looking for a one lite tupperware type conatiner with a
white lid
Please take care when you are around the lock, especially if you
are cacheing with children. On a slightly sour note, there was a
bit of rubbish around this lock. I took a bagload away with me, but
can I prevail upon every one who visits to CITO at least one item?
Thanks.
