- Geschichte
Über der Stadt Feldkirch thront die mittelalterliche Schattenburg, einst Sitz der Grafen von Montfort. Die Burg beherbergt ein Museum und ein Restaurant. Eindrucksvoll schön ist der Ausblick vom Bergfried (nur zugänglich bei Besuch des Museums).
Erbaut wurde die Burg um das Jahr 1200 von Graf Hugo von Montfort, dem Gründer der Stadt Feldkirch. Bis 1390 waren hier die Grafen von Montfort ansässig. Danach wurde sie an die Habsburger verkauft. Im Laufe ihrer Geschichte hat die Burg eine Reihe von Kriegen erlebt und immer wieder Schaden genommen. Es gelang jedoch immer wieder, sie in Stand zu halten. Heute ist sie eine der besterhaltenen mittelalterlichen Burganlagen in Mitteleuropa.
- Anreise
Wir empfehlen eine Anreise per Bus und/oder Bahn. Vom Feldkircher Bahnhof ist man zu Fuß in 10 Minuten bei der Schattenburg. Sollte man doch mit dem Auto anreisen wollen/müssen so gibt es in der Nähe der Schattenburg kostenpflichtige Parkplätze.
- Öffnungszeiten
Zu den Headerkoordinaten hast du jederzeit Zugang. Solltest du das Museum oder das Restaurant besuchen wollen informiere dich bitte vorab im www.
Außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten ist der Zugang in die Burg nicht möglich. Wenn ihr es euch einrichten könnt, kommt innerhalb der Öffnungszeiten – der Blick in den pittoresken Innenhof ist wirklich sehenswert.
- Logbedingungen:
Schau dich um und lass den Flair dieses geschichtsträchtigen Ortes auf dich wirken. Du wirst unzählige Motive finden, die deinen Besuch auf der Schattenburg dokumentieren können. Nimm bitte einen Zettel/ Karton, auf den du das Besuchsdatum notierst und mach ein Foto von dir und einem Teil der Schattenburg. Es ist dir überlassen, ob neben dir die schöne Aussicht von der Schattenburg, der Innenhof oder eine Statue auf dem Bild zu sehen sind. Wir freuen uns über schöne, gruslige und witzige Fotos. Above the town of Feldkirch towers the medieval Schattenburg, once the seat of the Counts of Montfort. The castle houses a museum and a restaurant. Impressively beautiful is the view from the tower (only accessible when visiting the museum)
The castle was built around the year 1200 by Count Hugo von Montfort, the founder of the city of Feldkirch. Until 1390, the counts of Montfort were established here. After that the castle was sold to the Habsburgs. In the course of its history, the castle has experienced a series of wars and has been repeatedly damaged. However, the castle could always be maintained. Today it is one of the best preserved medieval castles in Central Europe.
- Getting there
We recommend a journey by bus and/or by train. From the station of Feldkirch you can walk to the Schattenburg in 10 minutes. If you want to arrive by car there are parking lots near the Schattenburg.
- Opening hours
You have access to the header coordinates at any time. If you would like to visit the museum or the restaurant, please inform yourself in advance via the www.
Outside the opening hours, access to the castle is not possible. If you can set it up, come within the opening hours - the view of the picturesque courtyard is really worth seeing.
