Geocache Description:


Another one stage multi-cache reading about history of Salem, then going to find the final.

At the corner of Mission and Church Streets was the the Oregon School of the Blind that opened in the late 1800's. It was closed in the early 2000's by the act of the Oregon Legislature. The state sold the property to Salem Hospital (after lawsuits were settled. The hospital tore down the old buildings, built the rehab facility, a house for families to stay at while children were in the hospital, and a nice playground.

To find the final you must read the signs at the first stage and find numbers as indicated

A= The Oregon School of the blind was opened after an 187X Oregon Law that provided funding for blind individuals. A = X-2

B= Photo of OSB students and staff with superintendent Jerome Howard was taken in 19B0 

C= The School for the Blind ulitmately closed in 200C.

D= Education is a Right not a Charity was articulted in a pamplet for parents of prospective student sin 19D7

E=Photos of the Oregon School for the Bleind Entrance was taken in 18E6

F= In 1895 the school enrollment ot OSB consisted of F2 students.
