Geocache Description:

Help the Park Crew and other volunteers clean up at Taughannock as well as the Black Diamond Trail!!

*Event starts at 9am and goes through 12pm.*

While walking along the beach one evening we noticed a lot of trash had been kicked up from the lake from the recent thaw, the heavy rains and the general surging of the lake. I felt compelled to do something about this, so I called the park office. Much to my pleasure I was told that there was already an event planned for volunteers to help clean up the park! I asked if a CITO event could tag along and bring out some extra hands. Hey, every pair of hands and another trashbag is always a good thing.

The park folks also said that in addition to trash picking there would be general maintenance that would be done as well, such as making sure the picnic table bolts are all snugged up and things of that nature if anyone is interested in partaking in that. They would love the extra hands. There will also be no admission charged that day, and as long as the weather holds out there will be a band playing too.

If you have time after the event, check out the falls! The Gorge Trail is open and the walk is a flat and fairly short one. There is also the Multi-Use Trail, North Rim and South Rim Trails all of which offer an experience at the park that you will remember.

So let's help out and keep the park a beautiful place for everyone to enjoy!! smiley
