Geocache Description:

Finally a cache on the Great Wall that can actually hold some coins!

This is well worth the climb up the 1720 steps (picAtune actually counted them!)Make it to the top, celebrate on the way down with a little caching action.

This is located at the Ju Yong Guan part of the Great Wall. Here the entry fee is only 40 yuan RMB and it is about 13 km closer to Beijing than Badaling. It is also less busy, but a more strenuous climb.

Unless you are a master stair-climber, you'll want to give yourself about an hour going up. Bring water. (you can buy it on the wall also) On the way up, about 80% of the way up, note the walkway going off to the right just below the WCs. After relaxing for a while at the top, come back down to this walkway. Go down this little path a little way around the bend and you'll see a small 3-trunked treelet. The cache is in a small Skippy peanut butter jar sheltered at the base of this tree protected by a couple stone slabs. Please replace it this way to protect it from all the muggles.

I don't plan climbing these stairs too often, so if there's a problem with the cache, please let me know. Either I or my friend (who guides weekly tours here) will fix it. It is also not legal to leave the finished walkways, so this cache is within reach without breaking any laws.

Finally, check out the photos. Yeah, they're spoilers, but after making this climb, you should be rewarded with an easy find... you could probably even do it without your GPSr (I won't tell if you don't :) )
