Geocache Description:

To celebrate my move to the centre of the city, I hid this geocache the day after my move was complete.

Constructed at the end of the 19th century, the National Philharmonic is a concert hall in Kyiv. When it was first built, it was called the Merchants' House, and it became a site for cultural gatherings. Events such as masquerade balls, conferences, and literary events were hosted, but the building's acoustics made it well known for musical performances.

After the Russian Revolution, the building underwent several changes in name and purpose. Then during World War II and the German occupation of Kyiv, the building became used as a German Officer's Club, which is one reason why the it survived the destruction suffered by many other buildings on Khreshchatyk Street.

Today, the Philharmonic and the Kyiv Opera House are the two most prestigious classical music stages in the city, and you might see music lovers waiting to attend a concert when you visit the site.

The cache is hidden across the street from the building. Please use stealth as there is a lot of traffic in this area. It is a magnetic nano in the sign between the sidewalk and road. If you approach from the sidewalk you can use the height of the hill to reach the cache. Be ready to take a picture of the Philharmonic to mask your actions.
