Geocache Description:

This is the second in a series of caches place at the marsh to raise awareness about Nahant Marsh and invite the public to enjoy this location.

In 2007, the Nahant Marsh Educational Center and River Action, Inc., partnered with Eastern Iowa Community College District (EICCD) and ATEEC to develop and oversee educational activities at Nahant. The Education Center offers hands-on activities to further the understanding of water quality, wetlands, and their importance to both wildlife and humans. Educational programming on wetland ecosystems, water quality, and biodiversity is offered at the Marsh.

The education center is open Saturday 9-Noon or by special appointment. Friends of Nahant have a work day 9 to Noon the first Saturday of each month. Volunteers are much needed and help for just an hour is valued.

Nahant Marsh is open to the public during daylight hours. If the gate is closed you may park in the lot and walk in through the access point in the fence.

This cache is located at a rest stop along a mowed trail, finding the cache may be a bit tricky . . . keep looking it is there. I would like to thank everyone at the Advanced Technology Environmental and Energy Center (ATEEC) and Brian Ritter for providing me with information about this site and allowing me to place this cache.
