Geocache Description:

Most fans of Green Bay Packers know that the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field hasn’t always been the home of the Green and Gold. Beginning in 1919, home games were at Hagemeister Park, literally a vacant sandlot marked with a football gridiron, adjacent to East High in Green Bay.

In 1923, the team moved to Bellevue Park at the end of Main Street, but returned to East High in 1925 to the newly constructed, 6,000-seat City Stadium.

City Stadium in the 1950's

After World War II, crowds increased and pro football became more and more popular. The field was expanded to seat 25,000, but eventually City Stadium was inadequate to meet the team’s needs. A new City Stadium, on Green Bay's west side, opened in 1957, and that field was renamed Lambeau Field in 1965.

Fortunately, this piece of NFL history not only still exists, but it is still in use for high school games. The stadium was renovated, with a new press box, better seating, and an ornamental fence with monuments to the history of the field. As an observance of the 50th anniversary of the opening of Lambeau Field, the Packers held practice at City Stadium on July 31, 2007.

The listed coordinates for this cache will take you to the gate of City Stadium. You cannot trod the field, but you can still soak up the history. Near the coordinates you will find three plaques commemorating several individuals—Janet, Terry, and John—who have played a prominent role in East High and community history. Answer the questions based on the plaques, and find the cache.

(The letter X is a placeholder)

Janet lived from XXXC to 1999. She was a XXDI graduate of East High School. Terry graduated from East High School in XXXJ. He was named assistant principal in XXEX. He was principal from XXGX to XXXH and spearheaded the 100th anniversary football game between East and West High School in XXXF. John, who was born and raised in Green Bay, was instrumental in helping establish the Green Bay Area Visitor and Convention Bureau. He lived from XXXA to XBXX.

The cache is at 44 AB.(C-1)DE / 87 FG.(H-1)IJ
