The coordinates will bring you to Sliteres Lighthouse. Near the lighthouse you must follow the hint! Cache in Nano so bring your own pen and please use as little place as possible when you log your visit! Guards and owners of lighthouse know about the cache and geocaching so don't be afraid of them, just be careful of mugglers!
Slitere Lighthouse The tales about the rubber Davids who lit false signal fires to lead ships into dander endow the location of the lighthouse with mystery and make it especially attractive. Before the Slitere Tower was build, there was a giant oak growing on the steep slope of Zilie Kalni (the Blue hills). The oak was marked in sea charts; it perished after a thunderbolt. A tower was built in the middle of the 19th century; and only in 1961 it became a twenty-four hours light house. The lighthouse functioned till 1999; it was one of the highest lights all along the Baltic coast (more than 100 meters above sea level). The steep slope of the Zilie Kalni has caused one more peculiarity:there is no other lighthouse in Latvia that is located as far from the sea (5.3 km). Since 2002 the lighthouse complex serves as a tourism object of Slitere National Park.
