Geocache Description:

We passed this spot when we went to hide the Portal to The Underworld 2 and we thought this rock face looked like a rose in the rocks. We loved it and came back today and grabbed the coords. To succesfully log this one you must measure the width of one of the orb shaped rocks (dont post your results in your log) no one answer will be the same since the rocks are always changing because of the elements!! The rock formation is a result of chemical weathering which is ususally water, wind ect. Water is the acidic element that eats away at the Briones shale or sandstone and the weathering in turn forms slowly forms an orb which slowly has its layers scratched off by the elements making it look like a rose or rose bud! This is rare around Briones and we think it is so cool!!! The hike would normally take about 2 hours but, I suggest driving Upper Happy Valley Rd and parking near Wellsey Dr. WARNING Wellsey is a private driveway so please dont park on it. Walk up the driveway to find the trailhead. It is a moderate 15 to 20 minute walk from here. We hope this cache will fuel other geocachers to get off the couch and take a hike through beautiful Briones! There are lots of interesting hide spots so fire up your imagination and hide your own cache in the Park. Lets introduce this hidden gem to more Bay Area cachers!!!
!!!!!!Happy Caching!!!!!!
