Geocache Description:

2010 Geo-Picnic at Roche-a-Cri State Park

Join us for the 2010 Geo Picnic and enjoy some of what Central Wisconsin has to offer.

Roche-A-Cri State Park, established in 1948, includes a 605-acre park area. Roche-A-Cri comes from French words meaning "crevice in the rock." The park has a 300-foot-high rock outcropping with a wooden stairway to the top. There are Native American petroglyphs and pictographs.

Please note that the stairs to the top of the mound have been closed and deemed unsafe - RAC does plan to replace the stairs but it will not be in time for the picnic.

Geocaches in the area: There are 22 currently published caches within the park (with more possible as the date draws near) as well as > 120 currently published caches within 15 miles of Roche-a-Cri State Park. These include Virtual Caches, EarthCaches, Letterbox Hybrids, Traditional caches, Multi Caches and Puzzle/Mystery Caches. There are also 8 Benchmarks that have been "found" as well as 9 "unrecovered" Benchmarks within approximately 5 miles of the park. Along with the Event Cache ,the Pre-Picnic CITO Event and WhereIGo, this may allow you to have a "very busy day".

Please consider joining us before the picnic at the Pre-picnic CITO event sponsored by the WGA at Burt Morris Park in the City of Adams from 8am - 10am: Pre-picnic CITO Event Page. We'll have coffee & donuts available for breakfast and cleanup the park before heading over to the picnic.
