Geocache Description:


The name of the temple of here is an SAIFUKU temple.
There is the big ginkgo in the precincts of here.

When boiled the part of this tree and drank, 
there was the legend that mother's milk increased.

It is a considerable giant tree, and it is this local symbol.

天台宗西福寺。境内には「乳房公孫樹」と呼ばれる銀杏の大木があり、
「観音にすがり乳柱の一部を削って煎じ、これを愛飲すると忽ち乳が出る。」とされ
信仰を集め、近郷からも乳飲み子を抱えた母親の参詣で賑わったといいます。

第二次大戦前は東京からも人々が訪れたといいます。
幹周り５１０ｃｍは市内でも最大級のもので、市内を代表する巨樹のひとつです。
