The Green County Barn Quilts project started in 2008, and by the end of 2010 the 100th barn quilt was installed. Barn quilts are painted wooden squares (designed like one block of a real quilt pattern), generally 8 x 8 feet in size. Some are located on "working" barns, and others are displayed on "retired" barns. It's not as challenging as geocaching, but hunting for the barn quilt locations is a true adventure in experiencing the roads less traveled of the Green County countryside.
This farm has been in the family since Adolf Sacker bought the property in 1927. Adolf came to Green County from Germany when he was young. His son Ralph took over the farm and also raised four children here. Jim and Sue Sacker, Ralph's son and daughter-in-law now farm here with hopes that someday their children will continue farming. Many changes have taken place over the years. The barn was built by local builder Bruni Miller around 1948. It is currently used for raising calves and young dairy stock. The quilt pattern is "Hen and Chicks."

The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Steve Johnston of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form.
