The Muppet Show, a half-hour long musical comedy variety show, aired on TV from 1976-1981. The action in each episode included onstage acts and frantic backstage activity among emcee Kermit the Frog, his Muppet friends and a live celebrity. The creation of puppeteer Jim Henson, The Muppet Show introduced us to many endearing characters, many of whom are being celebrated with caches in and around the Whitnall Park/Root River Parkway area.
Miss Piggy
Miss Piggy is a diva pig who is always seen wearing jewelry who is convinced that she is destined for stardom and nothing is going to get in her way. Her public face is the epitome of feminine charm, but she can instantly fly into a violent rage whenever she thinks she's been insulted or ignored. Kermit the Frog is the object of her affections but is not immune to her bipolar tendencies. When she isn't smothering him in kisses, she's sending him flying through the air with a karate-chop.
