Geocache Description:

Commonly occurring on abandoned land, meadows and ditches, the wild rose comes in a diverse array of shapes, sizes and colors. The clustered wild rose (Rosa pisocarpa,) also known as swamp rose, is a deciduous shrub that reaches up to 6 feet at maturity. The shrub presents pink blooms and forms upright thickets. The red fruits are attractive to birds and butterflies.

A low-growing shrub from 2 to 6 feet tall, the deciduous plant presents pink flowers from May through August. In July the plant produces scarlet fruits, known as "hips," that hang on the plant through the winter

Wild roses prefer locations with full sun but will tolerate some shade. Wild roses produce an abundance of suckers that sprout up from the roots, forming dense thickets. Wild roses can propagate from seeds, however the seeds take two years to germinate.
