Geocache Description:

The other day Swamphog stopped by to chat. He told me that he was retiring at the end of this week. I asked him what he was going to do with all that extra time on his hands. He told me that he was going to catch up to me in cache finds, so I thought that I should get him started by hiding a cache in honor of his retirement.

You can park at the end of Marsh Road, and take the trail to the north. This trail is an abandoned railroad grade, so it is a fairly level, smooth terrain, until you get to the end of the trail, which is the foundation of a bridge that used to span the river here. Watch your step, because that last one is a doozy ... about 12 feet straight down. You're going to want to leave the trail before you reach this point.

It appears as though this is a commonly-used fishing spot and it is open to hunting in season, so please use stealth if others are present and be sure to re-hide the cache so that it isn't easy to see. You may want to bring a fishing pole along with you. I saw several carp jumping the day I hid this cache.

This cache is placed in McMillan Wildlife Area. The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Brian Peters of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form. Please print out a paper copy of the notification form, fill in all required information, then submit it to the land manager. The DNR Notification form and land manager information can be obtained at: www.wi-geocaching.com/hiding

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or emoticon logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
