9th Annual Memorial CITO: Heavy Metal Cache In Trash Out Event

This cache has been archived.

Team Laxson: It's been a month since the event, and the container still is not able to be picked up due to the wet conditions. I'm still anxiously awaiting for the final weigh in, but it's time to retire the event. Thank you to everyone for coming out and making events like this possible!

9th Annual Memorial CITO

Saturday, April 13th, 2013
10:00am - 3:00pm

"HEAVY METAL" Overview:

For this year's project, we'll be working an area that has been in need of some real 'heavy lifting' for quite a while. The area has a history or agriculture, and has many items leftover on the land that we will be removing. In addition to to trash, oil drums, car parts, and other small metal items, we will need some serious muscles to move the plows, seeders, and other farm related artifacts. Based on our walk through, we may be moving 2 TONS of CITO items. This CITO will make you break a sweat, so be prepared.

As this year's event is over the lunch hour, we will be providing lunch for all volunteers. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers (see this log entry for details.

Everyone participating at this CITO will receive one entry into a FREE DRAWING for geocaching related items (coins, gear, ect) and other surprises!

Weather:
Weather in mid April is usually warm and pleasant but can be unpredictable. There is very little shade in the area we'll be working, so please bring sunscreen, appropriate clothing, and plenty of water. This is a 'shine-only' event. If the area is wet due to rain, we will need to reschedule.

Volunteers should bring:

Drinking water (1-2 liters per person)
Snack
Sunscreen
Work gloves (if you have them)
Hiking shoes/boots
Binoculars or camera (optional)

Boulder County will provide:
Extra large trash bags
Extra Work gloves
Extra Water
First aid kit

As a result of events like this, we are receiving an Award from Boulder County!

This is a Billzjeep inspired event

Who is Billzjeep?

Billzjeep began caching April 2001, logged 965 finds, had 5 hidden caches of his own, and was a recognized cacher in Colorado. He was unable to log his final finds because he passed away suddenly while geocaching with Jeeperz1&2 on March 6, 2004. Since his passing, Colorado has held a CITO event in his memory each year.

Past events held in his memory:
The First Annual Billzjeep CITO Event
The Second Annual Billzjeep CITO Event
3rd Annual Billzjeep CITO Event
Billzjeeps 4th Annual CITO @ Boyd Lake
BillzJeep 5th Annual CITO @Boyd Lake
6th Annual Tribute CITO; in honor of billzjeep
7th Annual Tribute CITO ~ In honor of Billzjeep
8th Annual Tribute CITO (billzjeep)
Other Colorado Cachers we have lost:
