Join us June 8th at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park in Micanopy Florida as we celebrate the 500th anniversary of the arrival of explorers who discovered a beautiful, flowery land inhabited by Native Americans, and a wide diversity of plants and animals.

Our Viva Florida 500 event will offer you the opportunity to discover Florida’s rich heritage with 30 or more new caches that will be activated just before the event that highlight historical Florida events.

The Preserve offers trails, camping, wildlife viewing, fishing and biking on 22,000 acres of land William Bartram described as the great Alachua Savannah. Please visit the Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park website for further information and maps. Cachers who are camping may NOT geocache at night. This is for visitor safety and respect of the wildlife and preserve.

The gates open at 8:00am and the entry fees are as follows:

Main Entrance Admission
  • $6.00 per vehicle, limit 2-8 people per vehicle
  • $4.00 Single Occupant Vehicle
