Geocache Description:

This cache is a short walk but bushwhacking all the way.

This cache has a special meaning for me because it was December 2011 the last day of pheasnt hunting, He was busting brush for his old man following tracks of a pheasant in the fresh snow. In some of the thickest!! brush on the KVR Jerome discovered a long dead buck and not just any old buck but a big 10 pointer. There was nothing left but some hair and bones and his monster rack. With one tine broken off, I'm guessing from a fight with a rival it still scored 148, if it hadn't been broken off it would have scored in the 170s. He had earlier in the year shot his first buck but it was a small 6 point and I'm not sure of which one he was most proud of. What really amazes me is where he found the deer. Not that it was in a thicket, a place any wounded smart buck would go. But the fact that it is so close to the road, right in the middle of public hunting area that gets more than it's share of hunters passing though. No one else found this buck during the entire 2011 hunting season?? That tells me no one ever set foot in that thicket but Jerome. He knew that nothing worth having comes easy and he had the drive and the love of hunting and nature that put him on this find. I believe it was left there for him. When I placed this cache my oldest son Steve was with me and we were able to find the exact spot he did because the bones are still there. Spread all over by the animals that appreciated the kill. Please leave them be so others can see the site the way Jerome found it, less the monster rack and a natural European mount. We lost our Jerome in April 2012 and this cache like a few others have been placed in memory of him. Enjoy this spot as we did.
