Geocache Description:

[LAT]     Apkārtnes ļaudis jau izsenis šo vietu sauc par Kolku. Kāpēc – neviens nemāk pateikt. Te Bērzes upi šķērso vecais Liepājas ceļš, kādreiz bijis koka tilts un Upes dzirnavas.

Otrā pasaules kara beigās vācu spēki, gaidīdami krievu tankus, šo tiltu nomīnēja. Nezināmu iemeslu dēļ tilts palika neskarts. Pēckara gados tiltu izmantoja satiksmei, līdz tika uzbūvēta tagadējā Liepājas šoseja. Tad tilts sāka brukt, to nojauca, aizvietojot ar laipu gājējiem. Ar laiku laipa kļuva bīstama gājējiem, un vietējā vara divtūkstošo gadu sākumā saņēmās to atjaunot. Tad nu strādnieki arī uzdūrās vāciešu atstātajām mīnām.

Visus šos gadus ļaudis bija šķērsojuši upi pa mīnētu tiltu.

Tad nu nolēmu tiltu „nomīnēt” vēlreiz, novietojot slēpni. Pie atmīnēšanas esiet ļoti uzmanīgi, attapties ūdenī var nebūt patīkami.

Pirmajam atradējam uguntiņa tumšajiem vakariem.

[ENG]    Locals have been calling this place Kolka for a long time. Why? No one knows why. This is the place where old road to Liepaja crossed river Bērze. There were wooden bridge with water mills.

At the end of World War II, German army mined this bridge to blow it up with attacking Russian tanks. For unknown reasons, the bridge remained intact. After the war, the bridge was used for regular traffic again, untill the new road to Liepaja was built. Then the bridge started to crumble, it was dismantled to replace it with a footbridge for pedestrians. After some time also the footbridge became to dangerous for pedestrians, and local authorities decidet to restore it some years ago. Then workers came across mines left by the Germans.

All these years the people had crossed the bridge while it was still mined.

Then I decided to “mine” this bridge again with a cache. Be very careful, getting wet may not be pleasant.

The first finder will get a nice warm spark for dark evenings.
