Geocache Description:

Come join the Northeast Nebraska Geocachers

Adopt-A-Highway CITO Spring 2014

This is the eighth cleanup for our State of Nebraska Adopt-A-Highway section!  Volunteer to help keep our state clean.  You will also help raise awareness of our great hobby and all that Geocaching stands for!!

Our section is a two-mile stretch of Highway 275 on the western edge of Norfolk from mile marker 71-73.

This event will take place during the 12th Annual International Cache In Trash Out Weekend (April 26 - 27) as well as the Great Nebraska Trash-Off!  We will meet at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 26, 2014.  The event coordinates will take you to Jerry's Auto Sales on Highway 275, where they have graciously allowed us to park and stage our event.  The cleanup section also begins here.  We will have a safety briefing prior to beginning the cleanup.  The Nebraska Department of Roads provides us with safety vests, trash bags, signage, and will haul away the trash after the cleanup.  You should bring protective clothing, heavy-duty gloves, sunscreen, bug spray, drinking water, and a "grabber tool" if you don't want to constantly bend over.

The length of the event will depend on how many people participate, but should be about 2 hours - ending around 11:00 am.  Everyone is welcome to participate, but those under 15 must have adult supervision.  People unable to walk long distances or confined to a wheelchair can help in the staging area or drive vehicles.  Sorry, no dogs are allowed.  Please post a "Will Attend" so we know how many safety vests will be needed.  Also, please note, by participating, you agree to do so at your own risk.  The State of Nebraska and event hosts are not responsible for injury or damages.

Groundspeak has announced that those attending CITO Events on April 26 & 27 will earn a 2014 CITO Souvenir for their Geocaching profile!
