This month Mr. Sandlanders will be getting another knee replacement, and that will limit our caching travel, so what will we do to get the Socializer souvenir offered by Groundspeak? Why, just have our own event, of course! Maybe you won't be able to travel far this month either, or maybe you just like to socialize. Maybe you want to visit Sandland to get some of the other souvenirs, since all can be earned less than three miles from this event if you haven't found the caches in Roche-A-Cri State Park yet, or not much farther away if you have.
Whatever your reason for wanting to come to this event, be in the parking lot of Friendship Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2014. At that time you can sign the log book and then make your way to the bridge over the creek to have a group photo taken. In case of rain, there is a shelter in the park where we can gather (if no one is using it), but what's a little rain to those of us who go out into the woods to find plastic? At 10:15 the event will end, and you will be free to go about the rest of your day. If you want to stick around and socialize more, we will move our gathering to a nearby establishment for coffee and/or brunch. No purchase is necessary.
Flash mobs usually have a theme, and while it is not necessary to do anything special to attend, we are going with the "need help to get around" theme. Mr. Sandlanders will be using crutches, and some of you may want to bring those that you have used in the past. Or maybe you want to bring a walker, or a cane, or a wheelchair, whether you use one regularly, temporarily, or not at all. Come bandaged (it's the right knee), or come as a health care professional (the park isn't very far from the local hospital). You get the idea, but whatever you do or don't do for the theme, just come!
