The Elusive Island Caches: Cache 2 of 3
This is part of a series of caches. Each cache is a cache by itself. The first two can be done in any order, while the third requires you to have found the first two beforehand.
As mentioned in the first cache I had planned for the geocache to include two islands. Unfortunately I found there was a no wading sign at the small island, so they will all three be on the big island. At least this way you can’t get wet!
The small island would have been an island about 10 ft across in the Ottumwa duck ponds. It would have required one to wade to the island in very shallow water in a very public place. I really liked the idea of having to do this and look silly, sort of a way to show you were dedicated to finding the cache. But as stated previously, it would have broken park rules to do so. :-(
With my first plan gone, I came up with this place to hide the cache. This cache is also on “Turkey Island.” This is slightly harder than the first but I don’t think it’s too difficult, if you have problems be sure to read the hints.
Parking is located at: N41° 01.549’ W092° 25.685’ (same as cache 1)
Cache is located at: N41° 01.445’ W092° 25.918’
This is a small camouflaged cache, approximately 4 inch x 3 inch x 2 inch.
Note: To complete the third cache you must complete the first and second caches in any order. These caches contain hints to the location of the third. The lids of the container will have a letter and number on them. Use this information to find the whereabouts of the 3rd cache.
