Geocache Description:

There are many ways to celebrate the summer but our connection to and enjoyment of the water is a time honored tradition, especially on Minnesota lakes. In the warmer months we flock to the lakes and beaches to swim, dive, fish, water ski, snorkel and enjoy the hypnotic allure of the water. As fall arrives and the weather gets cold we shift from water sports to more land based activities. This event is to take full advantage of our summer before it quickly runs its course. So let's celebrate the connection between water and geocaching by getting together to enjoy the water together.

Location: Lake Calhoun, Minneapolis, MN, N 44° 56.736 W 093° 18.675

Date: Saturday June 13th, 2015

Time: NOON to no later than 1pm

Requirements: You MUST get to the posted coordinates of the event in order to properly attend this event. Attendance from shore will NOT be allowed [WEATHER CONTINGENCY PLAN IN THE WORKS]. Event hosts can no longer require you to sign an event log but you must be in attendance in order to log this event as Attended.

So grab your boat or find a place to rent one. Be sure to get underway ON TIME as the flotilla will only be hanging around for about an hour. Rumor has it that there are plenty of rental boats nearby. If you need to rent, be sure to factor standing in line into your schedule.

NOTE: Motorized boats are NOT allowed on Lake Calhoun. Any reference to boat implies canoe, kayak, paddleboat, or some other non-motorized waterborne vehicle. Don't bring your ski boat or fishing boat and expect to make it to GZ. I was informed that electric motors are allowed on the lake but I am not sure about the details.. so bring your electric motor boat at your own risk.

NOTE: Sunscreen, bring it.

This event is rated 2.5/5. The difficulty rating of 2.5 is based on the fact that you'll have to manage the logistics of planning your adventure to the event, which will include finding a boat, handling the boat, and timing yourself accordingly. The terrain is rated a 5 because special equipment is required in order to get to GZ for the event.
