Il tracciato di via della Lungaretta corrisponde esattamente al tracciato di un'antica via del II secolo a.C. denominata "via Aurelia nova", che iniziando dal "ponte Emilio" saliva sul Gianicolo ed usciva di città all'altezza 1 Casa dell'Arciconfraternita di S.Maria dell'Orazione e Mortedella "porta Aurelia" per dirigersi verso "Forum Aureli", l'odierna Montalto di Castro. In seguito denominata "via Transtiberina", assunse il nome attuale, diminutivo di Lungara, in seguito al rifacimento di papa Giulio II agli inizi del Cinquecento: poco più corta rispetto a via della Lungara, 700 metri contro i circa 1000 metri della sorella maggiore, ma altrettanto rettilinea, collega la chiesa di S Iniziamo la visita di questa via partendo da piazza in Piscinula: sulla sinistra, ai numeri civici 27-31, possiamo 2 Dettaglio del cartiglio dell'Arciconfraternitanotare un edificio del Seicento che presenta al pianterreno una serie di porte ad arco ribassato, tra le quali quella al civico 27 presenta un cartiglio con una croce ed un calice : si tratta dell'emblema dell' Arciconfraternita di S.Maria dell'Orazione e Morte, come confermato dalla targa marmorea soprastante "DIRECTUM DOMINIUM ARCHISODALITII A S.MARIA ORATIONIS ET MORTIS URBIS", ovvero "Diretto dominio dell'Arcisodalizio di S.Maria dell'Orazione e Morte in Roma"..Maria in Trastevere a piazza in Piscinula. Oltrepassato viale di 3 La Madonna de NoantriTrastevere si trova la chiesa di S.Agata, dedicata alla martire protettrice di Catania e fondata, secondo la tradizione, da Gregorio II sulla propria casa quando al pontefice morì la madre: se ciò rispondesse al vero, la chiesa risalirebbe circa al 716. Nel 1375 papa Gregorio XII la concesse ai Dottrinari, i padri che insegnavano ai fanciulli poveri "la dottrina cristiana, il leggere, scrivere et anche grammatica gratis". Sotto Benedetto XIV, nel 1710, la chiesa venne ricostruita da Giacomo Onorato Recalcati. All'interno vi è custodita la venerata statua della "Vergine del Carmelo", la protettrice dei trasteverini, popolarmente detta la "Madonna de noantri" . Il culto per la Vergine risale ad un periodo di poco successivo al 1535, ovvero quando una grande statua di legno della Madonna fu rinvenuta nei pressi della foce del Tevere a Fiumicino. La Sacra Immagine fu consegnata dai marinai ai frati carmelitani di S.Crisogono, che riconobbero in essa la Vergine alla quale era intitolato il loro ordine. Proseguendo verso piazza di S.Maria in Trastevere incontriamo un'altra chiesa bellissima ed altrettanto antica, quella delle Ss.Rufina e Seconda , costruita, secondo la tradizione, sulla casa delle due martiri, sorelle nella vita e nel martirio, ricordata già nel 1123 in una bolla di papa Callisto II con il titolo di "Sanctae Rufinae et Secondae" e nel Catalogo di Cencio Camerario del 1192.
