Geocache Description:

20 August 2022, 08:00 - 17:00

Don’t miss Canada's longest running MEGA!

The 10th (kind of) annual Discover L&A County Geocaching Event (GC8BD10), is on Saturday, August 20, 2022! The event will once again be held at the beautiful grounds of the Museum of Lennox & Addington, located at 97 Thomas Street East in Napanee (N 44° 15.142 W 076° 57.020).

We've attracted thousands of geocachers to Lennox & Addington County since our first event in 2011. In 2019, more than 1,100 geocachers from around the world attended L&A's seventh consecutive MEGA Event. This year marks our eighth MEGA Anniversary, and like every year we will have many fun things in store, including lots and lots of new geocaches!

When you attend our MEGA Celebration this year you'll have a chance to earn a ton of great geocaching items, including: a MEGA Event Icon, a Locationless Cache Icon, a Community Event Icon, a CITO Icon, a Regular Event Icon, and Adventure Lab Icon, and an International Geocaching Day Souvenir. You can meet Signal, and find a variety of geocaches, including Traditional, Multi, Mystery, Letterbox Hybrid, Virtual and more!

Here's the Itinerary:

Thursday, August 18th, 8:30pm... Night Sky Stargazing Tour

GC9WXNB

Lennox & Addington County is home to the most southerly dark sky site in Ontario. Weather permitting, enjoy a laser guided tour of the night sky and take a look through a telescope at various celestial objects at the Lennox & Addington Dark Sky Viewing Area. (7980 County Road 41, Erinsville)

Friday, August 19th, 10am - 2pm... Water Cache Canoe Cruise

GC9WXMC

Looking to get out on the water in L&A? Pre-book from a limited assortment of canoes and kayaks available (Available now at www.LandAGeocaching.com while quantities last)! Explore the beautiful shoreline of the Napanee River. If you have your own watercraft, bring it along and take part in the fun. (River: TBD)

Friday, August 19th, 6:30pm... DLA Kick-Off Party

GC9WXP0

The annual MEGA Kick-Off Party is taking place at the main event site in Napanee. Catch up with old friends, make some new ones and get primed for an amazing weekend of geocaching. Admission is free!

Saturday, August 20th... MEGA DAY!

  • 8am - 4pm... Leave your mark in the log book and pick up information packages that detail fun geocaching activities taking place during the weekend. The event venue is open and staff are available all day to answer your questions. Drop in anytime for a coffee or share geocaching stories. Games, draws and activities will be available throughout the day.
  • 9am - 4pm... Head to all corners of Lennox & Addington County for some world-class geocaching. Choose from more than 1,500 geocaches in L&A County, or try your hand at some of the many new caches that will be published just in time for the event!
  • 4 - 5pm... After a fun day exploring L&A County, head back to the event venue for your chance to win an amazing assortment of prizes, hear closing remarks, and say 'cheese' for the popular group photo.

Sunday, August 21st, 9am... Cito on the Sunday

GC9WXPG

L&A graciously allows us to play the Geocaching game in their County so why not give a bit back to the community by doing a little clean up? We supply the bags and get rid of the trash. You bring gloves.

Please log your 'WILL ATTEND' if you’re able to make it to the 2022 Discover L&A County Geocaching Event. Also, be sure to visit www.LandAGeocaching.com or www.facebook.com/LandAGeocaching for news, updates and information about 'all things geocaching' in Lennox & Addington County.
