Przydrożna figura Chrystusa Króla znajduje się w Parku Leśnym Dębina w Krościenku Wyżnym. Wkomponowana w Park, otoczona starymi grabami trwa na swym miejscu już niemal półtorej wieku. Z figura wiąże się ciekawa legenda…
…otóż roku 1935 dwaj mężczyźni założyło się o to, że rzucą kamieniem w figurę Chrystusa. Chcąc zwyciężyć jeden z nich utrącił rękę od figury. Wkrótce po tym incydencie człowiek ten zginął wyskoczywszy z okna własnego mieszkania – według relacji świadków stało się to w wyniku obłędu jakiego nagle doznał. Niedługo po tym zdarzeniu zerwał się straszliwy huragan trwający zaledwie pół godziny. W wyniku niszczycielskiej siły żywiołu poległo ponad 600 potężnych dębów stanowiących praktycznie cały starodrzew parku (faktem jest, że potężny huragan rzeczywiście nawiedził Krościenko Wyżne w sierpniu 1935r).
Skąd wzięła się Figura w Parku?
Fundatorem figury był Franciszek Holstein czeski leśniczy w majątku hr. Jabłonowskich który funkcję swoją pełnił od 1844r. Holstein prócz Dębiny zarządzał także lasami w Krasnej i Czarnorzekach należących do Jabłonowskich potem zaś do Skrzyńskich.
Skąd Czech w Krościenku Wyżnym?
Należy pamiętać, że były to czasy gdy Polska była wymazana z map a teren ten znajdował się pod panowaniem Austro-Węgierskim. Władza carska dbała o swój monopol w kwestii kształcenia leśników stąd nie wydawano pozwoleń na utworzenie takich szkół na terenie Galicji traktując ją głównie jako obszar eksploatacyjny – w taki to sposób Holstein trafił do Krościenka Wyżnego.
Z jakiego powodu ufundowano kapliczkę?
Tego dokładnie nie wiadomo. Możemy jednak domniemać, iż leśniczy postawił w parku kapliczkę w podzięce za ocalenie życia podczas przetaczającej się w tamtym czasie przez tereny Galicji tzw. Rabacji Galicyjskiej w wyniku której Holsteina dotkliwie pobito.

Christ without a hand statue
The roadside figure of “Christ the King” is located in the Dębina Forest Park in Krościenko Wyżne. Blended into the Park, surrounded by old hornbeams, it has stood in its place for almost a century and a half. There is an interesting legend connected with the figure ...
... well, in 1935 two men made a bet that they would throw a stone at the figure of Christ. Wanting to win, one of them lost his hand from the figure. Soon after this incident, the man died after jumping out of the window of his own apartment - according to witnesses, it happened as a result of the insanity he suddenly experienced. Soon after that, a terrible hurricane, lasting only half an hour, started. As a result of the hurricane, over 600 mighty oaks were destroy, which constituted practically the entire old trees of the park (the fact is that a huge hurricane did indeed hit Krościenko Wyżne in August 1935).
Where did the statue in the Park come from?
The founder of the figure was Franciszek Holstein, a Czech forester in the estate of Jabłonowski, which he performed his function from 1844. Holstein, apart from Dębina, also managed forests in Krasna village and Czarnorzeki village, belonging to the Jabłonowski and later to the Skrzyński family.
Where did the Czech citizen in Krościenko Wyżne come from?
It should be remembered that these were the times when Poland was erased from the maps and this area was under Austro-Hungarian rule. The tsarist authorities cared about their monopoly on the education of foresters, hence no permits were issued for the establishment of such schools in Galicia, treating it mainly as an exploitation area - this is how Holstein ended up in Krościenko Wyżne.
Why was the statue founded?
It is not known exactly. We can, however, presume that the forester built a statue in the park in thanks for saving his life during the so-called The Galician plunder, as a result of which Holstein was severely beaten.
