Geocache Description:

This is a cache that can be found world wide. There is no cache at the above coordinates.

The object of this cache is to find rock formations that depict a certain object such as people, animals, and other objects. These rock formations must be known locally or nationally and must have a distinct name.Take a photo of the formation and one of the formation and gpsr. This means 2 photos are required from this day 8/24/03 forward. We have an opportunity to make a real nice display here so if it is a bad time or day to take the photo, wait and get it another day. This is your chance to show off your favorite rock formation. The coordinates should be taken from where the rock is best viewed not on the rock.As always only one log per person and only one logger per rock formation. The coordinates above are for viewing The Old Man of the Mountain rock formation. It is found in Franconia Notch New Hampshire. It is our state Emblem and can be seen on our Quarter. There are many rock formations in New Hampshire but I will show you pictures of only this one in hopes you will visit our state and log in one of your own.

NEWS ALERT!!!
Some time over the last two days, the Old Man rock formation fell.It was discovered in the morning of May 3rd by a park ranger. There has been considerable press coverage. The Old Man was discovered in 1805 and stood for nearly 200 years.I traveled up to Franconia Notch yesterday and took pictures.New Hampshire is considering what to do at this point. It is possible they will restore it.
