Geocache Description:

THIS CACHE WAS MURDERED!

BORN 11/04/2002 DIED 01/01/2006

TO CLAIM THIS CACHE, YOU MUST FIND A FUNICULAR RAILWAY SOMEWHERE IN THE WORLD! The Funicular Railway principle usually operates with two carriages on very steep parallel tracks. It could be a single railway, with bypass rails halfway through the run. Connected by steel cables, the carriages serve to counterbalance each other - as one rises to the top station, the other decends to the bottom station. One other variation could be a carriage that operates with a counter-balance weight which runs under the railway. These railways are operated on very steep grades, where no other train could go.

The Mt. Washington, NH, USA, Cog Railway is NOT a Funicular Railway. It uses an entirely different locomotion system which is not cable driven, and does not employ the carriage counterbalance principle, but IS A VERRRRY interesting ride, nonetheless.

REQUIREMENT: Locate a funicular railway anywhere in the world. There are public ones and there are private ones. The usual rules apply. Only ONE LOG PER LOCATION will be allowed, and only ONE LOG PER GEOCACHER/TEAM. NO logs of railway sites claimed for other caches! To log your find you must report the coordinates, and name the location (city, state/province, and country). I USE LOCATIONLESS PROXIMITY ANALYZER SOFTWARE TO FIND DUPLICATES!!! You must take a photo of your find with your GPS visible - old vacation photos and photos downloaded from the web won’t be allowed. Funicular railway evidence must be visible if at all possible, especially the steepness of the railway grade. All pics must be uploaded IMMEDIATELY after initial log entry. Any other rules or decisions I impose for suspected fraudulent finds are purely at my discretion.
