Southwest Wisconsin's driftless area is uniquely different from the rest of the state. Here the bogs, marshes and many lakes so characteristic of most of the state are replaced by rolling hills and spring fed valleys streams. Located near an access point is an old grist mill. Now abandoned, it was powered by water from a holding pond created by a dam on Skinner Creek. The dam going through Skinner Creek, has been destroyed. A remnant can be seen stretching along the north shore. Later, the mill was converted to electricity. It was used by local farmers to grind corn and oats.

The best approach to the cache is along the southern bank of Skinner Creek.Choosing another path will lead the cacher through brambles, briars, water, and bogs. The difficulty level, when choosing an alternate route will be close to four or four point five.

Truly, an adventure worthy of The Devil's Tea Table! On the way, a cacher will spot a tree in which an industrious beaver has attempted to use for a beaver dam.

As the cacher continues along a very small path, looking along the creek, the beaver's house can be seen. However, the beaver's house was not converted into an antique store! The beaver is long gone and the house is slowly being absorbed into nature. The cache is an amunition container starting out with a few trading items and the customary log book, pencils and pens.

Choosing the correct path will take the cacher on a relatively level trail. The approach to the cache is the hardest part. This is where level of difficulty comes into play.
