Geocache Description:

A great view of a great campground.

The Sunny Flats Campground gets the first sun in the canyon and warms up first in the morning. Visiting the campground are Trogons, deer, javelina, and a wide variety of colorful birds. Sorry, we have never seen a bear in the Sunny Flats area.

This will be our third cache in the area. The first being Trogon's Treasure and the second being Crystal Cave Overlook. This cache will be more of a challenge and give you the opportunity to be the first in your neighborhood to find one of the infamous Micro Cache Rocks.

First a word of warning. The desert will be full of things that will sting, scrape, stab, strike, or bite, so please be careful. We carry hiking poles to fish caches out from the bushes, crevices, or from under rocks ourselves. In addition, approaching this cache will require some steep rock climbing. It does get very warm in summer, so please pack LOTS of fluids.

You can sidestep paying a camping or "day use" fee by parking at the entrance to the Sunny Flats Campground. We encourage you to support the Forest Service and park maintenance by paying the fee and saving you an extra 2/10th of a mile (one way) hiking time.

The cache might be a "mini" cache, but the container is more of a "micro". The log is rolled up inside of the container. Please load the log back into the cache first before replacing the trinkets and pencils. We would like to make this cache a hat/lapel pin or tie tack cache. If you do plan to swap items, please bring along a like item to exchange. NO COINS PLEASE!

We encourage postings of your "find" coordinates. If you have a good fix, please add your readings to the log. If we find a clear bias to the reading we will post corrected coordinates.

Good hunting and enjoy the view.
