It's back! This geocache is located on the slopes at the Sugarloaf ski area. The resort welcomes summer and fall hikers and the cache is still accessible in the winter as well. Winter visitors will need to buy a lift ticket and be able to downhill ski to the cache location.
Accessing the cache requires about 1 ½-2 hr hike up relatively steep slopes with a gain of over 2,000' vertical. You can choose your own route on the ski slopes but the first hint below will give you some guidance. The second hint will help you find the cache itself if you are having trouble. There are some pictures posted which are located near the cache site.
The views here are spectacular and if you get as far as the cache, you should continue to the top. Please note that the peak is over 4,000 ft and weather near the top can be much more severe than on the bottom. Fall hikers should take warm weather gear. Luckily, the slopes make it hard to get lost on the way back down. If you find it in the winter, please rebury it in the snow. There can be lots of snow at the cache location, and the cache may be buried under several feet of snow. If this is the case during your visit we will accept a photo posted of you at the cache site with your GPSr.
The old cache container was missing when we got to the site to re-activate. The cache is now your standard ammo box located in similar fashion to the first cache.
