Geocache Description:

The First Ever Arkansas River Valley Geocaching Meet and Greet, Double Throwdown-Whomp-de-do, and Attempted Cache Event

Saturday January 24, 2004

We would like to kill several birds with this one stone. 1) Meet and spend some time with some nice people who share a common interest. 2) Enjoy some new caches in the area. 3) Learn something about an event cache. 4)Allow everyone attending to log a cache event.

Mike, Lisa,(Golfnutz) Roylene and I (nonnipoppy)will furnish and prepare turkey and baked potatoes for all. We ask you guys to bring your own drinks, chairs and either a side dish or a dessert. Additionally we need you to please let us know if you plan to attend. This will allow us to be as prepared as possible Ha - Ha.

Did you know that by having a travel bug number you can post a note that you handled it and your GC.com profile will give you credit? If you have any interest in this please bring any and all travel bugs you can get your hands on so we can pass them around.

Please plan to bring one cache item, of the quality you like to see in caches, for each person in your party and we will put them into an ammo can and give away a ready made cache to some lucky cacher or perhaps more.

It appears there will be between 20 and 30 NEW caches go live on the 23rd assuming all goes as planned. Themes of these caches include 1 ladies stuff only cache, 1 jewelry exchange (also ladies stuff only), 1 CD exchange, a temporary chocolate only, a temporary kids only cache, 1 Razorback logo item only, 1 five star difficulty and lots in between. Some micro and some 50 cal ammo can.

For those of you that use pocket queries from Geocaching.com for your waypoint downloads you should be able to modify an existing query on Friday night to get the file on Friday and receive a file with the new caches.

For all others we will have a few copies of the new cache sheets at the event for you to make notes from.

The weather is showing 57/47 degrees partially cloudy with a 70% chance of rain. We are committed regardless of the weather.

Looks like loads of fun and caching. Lots of food and fine folks.

We are planning on the actual event being 11 AM-2 PM. But some of us will be at the site both earlier and later. You are welcome to come and help if you desire.

This event is being held at the River Valley Sportsman Club (RVSC). There are two routes to get there. The one from the south has some dirt road. The more northerly route is all pavement (except after you turn to the event site). The RVSC location is marked on the accompanying picture as a yellow triangle on the west of the map. Both routes are shown along with the coords of the marked waypoints.
