Ben Hur Two Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

The Lost Patrol: I went to drop a travel bug off and found the cache missing! If there is a Ben Hur Three it will be smaller and hard to find. This one had a good run. I'm glad there weren't any travel bugs in it.

Geocache Description:

In Ben Hur Lampman Wayside Park

My very first cache, Ben Hur Lampman was muggled. This cache is in a lesser used area of the park and replaces the first. It will require a little bit of bushwacking.
Ben Hur Lampman was the "Oracle of Gold Hill". He ran the Gold Hill News from 1912 untill The Oregonian lured him to Portland in 1916.
Lampman was an editor, essayist, short story writer and a poet. In February of 1951 Govenor McKay declared Lampman a Poet Laureate of Oregon.
This strip of land along the Rogue River where Lampman liked to fish was obtained from Jackson County by the committee promoting Ben Hur Lampman Day in Gold Hill in June of 1947.
It was dedicated as a park and is now owned by the Oregon State Parks.
