This cache is located at Bear’s Mill located East of Greenville, OH. It is an awesome area and you don’t want to skip this one. The cache is an easy one to find down a trail to a Vietnam Memorial. Only accessible during the open business hours, which we will list below.
Bear’s Mill is a non-profit organization whose goal is to keep the mill open to the public for touring and educational purposes. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. We got the green light to place a cache from Nikki Levek, the manager. She only asks that we respect the owners privacy, by not walking to the old barn by the mill, and that the cachers do not cross the wooden bridge where the cache is located.
Built in 1849, the mill is one of the last operating water-powered mills in Ohio today. You may visit their website at www.bearsmill.com for lots of information. The mill store offers ifs own freshly stone ground flours and meals, wholesome because they are ground using preservative free grains on the original Buhr stones. It also has to offer locally made European breads and fresh roasted gourmet coffees. Handmade pottery and unique gift items are in abundance. When you enter the door take a big whiff of how good it smells, you will experience a sense of going back to a much simpler time.
Take a free self-guided tour through this four-story structure, reflecting on what life must have been like in a time before cars and the Internet even existed. Then take a walk through the woods. At the end of the path you will see the dam and the juncture where the mill pond is diverted from the Greenville Creek.
