This cache is located at 10,260' on the western edge of Sandia Peak just off Crest Trail 130 a quarter mile south of Sandia Peak Tram. Options are to park at Sandia Crest, bag the virtual cache there then visit Runner Up and The Cabin on the trail south.
This little known viewpoint offers stunning 80+ mile views south and westward overlooking Albuquerque. It is a wonderful site for our classic New Mexico sunsets; I've camped here overnight and day hiked here over the last 20 years.
The cache initially contains a log book and pencil, NASA space pen, AA batteries, Whale, La Vie balloon pin, and pottery shards. For First to Find, 2 pints of Pete's Wicked Ale await!
Be extremely careful at the cliff edge and obey all Forest Service regulations for Sandia Peak Wilderness.
Also, please be careful popping the top of the cache and returning it to its resting place.
