Found it Johny Cache found Vv... Zwillbrocker Venn + Flamingos

Saturday, May 15, 2010Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany

Yessss, found it!! Our 500th cache!! A couple of months ago I read about the Zwillbrocker Venn and its flamingo population, the northernmost in Europe. I was really surprised to hear about a flamingo population in the wild so close to home (still about a two hour drive, but I always thought the closest flamingo population was in southern France). I immediately checked if there was a cache in the area that I could combine with some flamingo watching. I found this one, the Zwillbrocker Venn Runde. I wanted my 500th cache to be a special one, so I saved the Zwillbrocker Venn Runde and the flamingos for this special occasion.
And a special one it was!!! After some start-up problems (I thought all answers had to be reduced to one digit) at the first waypoint at Ellewicker Feld, the remainder of the tour went smooth and without any further problems (except for thousands of little caterpillars, "spanrupsen" in Dutch, that were hanging on threads from the trees, that got in our hair and clothes ). Saw (and heard) lots of birds and we were rewarded with the sight of a total of 21 flamingo's!! This area with its beautiful, unique nature, all the birds and their sounds, it's a real treasure, and a treat for the eyes and ears. I also found the part along the border very interesting, with the fascinating border stones and its smuggling history. I couldn't wish for a more beautiful cache for my 500th Milestone! It was a beautiful, unforgettable day! Thanks, Gietertje!

Happy Caching,

Team JC

infoA multi-cache ("multiple") involves two or more locations, the final location being a physical container. There are many variations, but most multi-caches have a hint to find the second cache, and the second cache has hints to the third, and so on. An offset cache (where you go to a location and get hints to the actual cache) is considered a multi-cache.
