500th cache

When this came out I had a good idea of what to do. However the pictures of smileys were very unclear in the original puzzle and there are so many calculations its very easy to make a mistake. I ended up with a northing that (once we'd got the corrected image) seemed to be sensible, and a westing that was ok apart from what to do with the big smiley.

The FTF went but IceCold admitted that he'd just found it by visiting the site and searching likely hides. The next three solvers then did the same. I guess I could have done it too but it seemed very unsatisfactory. In my opinion this is a good 2.5 puzzle that has been spoilt by an unnecessary complication of the big one. Although I had various ideas for this final step I knew that in the end it would just be a trudge through the possibilities in Geochecker. I'd been putting this off for a while but after some urging from the cache owner I did it last week.

A fine evening tonight so we thought we'd try for it. It was an easy find.

infoA Mystery Cache is the “catch-all” of cache types, this form of cache can involve complicated puzzles you will first need to solve to determine the coordinates. The only commonality of this cache type is that the coordinates listed are not of the actual cache location but a general reference point, such as a nearby parking location. Due to the increasing creativity of geocaching this becomes the staging ground for new and unique challenges.
