Last year we made a geocaching roadtrip from Las Vegas to Seattle. On that trip we visited the Thunderbird Geo-Art in Idaho and that is now a great holiday memory.
In the meantime, an even more impressive piece of Geo-Art has appeared: the Locomotive. When planning this year's trip we knew, that we had to include a visit in Idaho, and it was obvious, that we would need quite some time for this. We therefore booked ten nights at a hotel in Mountain Home, which should be time enough for walking to all 1000 caches (and time for a few resting days).
Today was day one in the series. We decided to start with the upper part of the front of the train (chimney) and see, how far we would get. The weather was good for hiking and geocaching. Only 59 - 68 F and quite cloudy. We walked 25,5 km (15,8 miles) in a bit more than 8 hours before returning to our car. Then it was time to head for Mountain Home and check into our hotel.
