It has become a tradition that we make a yearly geocaching road trip in the US. It's the fifth year in a row that we do so, but the first time we visit the Eastern part of the country – starting in Miami and ending in Boston. This year's trip brought us through 17 states and one Canadian province.
When we started planning our trip some months ago we quickly discovered the Florida's 50 State Star series and decided to plan our route so that we would have sufficient time to pay this series a visit. We therefore only had a very short hotel-to-hotel distance today – going from Lake City, Florida to Valdosta, Georgia. It was fun and educational to solve the riddles, which was done during the winter months.
It had been raining heavily all night and the rain just continued all morning, so we were in no hurry to leave Lake City. We therefore took us time for a nice American breakfast before we went geocaching. We did see small improvements in the weather conditions, but we were happy that we had brought our rain clothes! Luckily we managed to keep the log books dry.
After completing the “Geo-art star” we continued our journey towards Valdosta, finding caches along the way. We arrived at our hotel early enough for a nice evening walk along the Azalea City Trail, finding a bunch of urban caches.
This cache, which was found at 17:39, happened to become a milestone for us: Our find no. 31,000.
Thanks for the cache and greetings from Denmark!
