Caching with AP☺
Apologies for the cut and paste logs
It was AP☺ who came up with idea to visit all of the COs T5 “available in winter” caches on this lake in one day, however we had hoped it might be a bit warmer.
The temperature showed -27C at the beginning of our day and -30C when we returned to the car over 12 hours and 25kms later.
Despite the cold we had come prepared and our rucksacks were packed with food, extra clothes and safety equipment should they be needed.
Conditions on the lake were not particularly good for skiing as there was a lot of deep snow and very few tracks to follow between the islands we had planned to visit.
This made progress slow but we kept a steady pace taking turns to be the lead skier ploughing through the snow creating a track for the other to follow.
We had a great day looking for the caches and were lucky enough to witness the beautiful winter scenery, the sunrise and sunset and then the dark starry sky on this cold and clear night.
We would have loved to take photographs but my iPhone couldn’t take the cold and turned itself off within a few minutes of leaving the car.
All of the caches and containers are in good condition and none took very long to find.
Signed log HAZAP☺
Thanks for cache
