I picked up the first few from this series on the day they were published - way back in 2011. Since then I've been gradually knocking off D/T squares and completing the Terrain columns. I've still not completed the whole set, but for some weeks now I've been planning to take a lunchtime walk to collect the ones I have.
The miserable weather of the past month had been stymieing these plans up to now, but today it was dry so I set off. GPSr, printouts, I thought I'd remembered everything but after ten minutes I realised that I didn't have a pen with me. If I returned to the office to get one I wouldn't have time for the round trip to the caches, so I pressed on.
After another hundred yards or so I stopped, and inwardly chastised myself for that daft decision. I was in the middle of nowhere. Was I planning to borrow one from a passing muggle? Could I be meaning to fashion one from a burnt stick? Or maybe I was hoping to meet the famous North Downs Way pen salesman? No! I turned to go back and it was then that I spotted the pen in the hedgerow. I tried writing with it and it worked perfectly. What was the chance of that!!
I continued on to the GZ. The GPS signal was bad under the trees: 25 metres this way 30 metres that and so on. I ignored it and just used the map, finding the cache in the third place I tried.
I'm attaching a screenshot of my stats to show that I am qualified.
