BCP375 - Baseline Lookout Tower

We got an early start this morning from Calgary and made it to the trailhead just before 10:00 a.m. The four kilometre and change hike to the Baseline Lookout took just over an hour up the well maintained fire lookout road.

The views from the lookout area were spectacular today to south, west and north. Our group quickly found the cap and snapped numerous pictures of the area.

After finding the near by cache we wandered over to the Old Baseline Lookout about one kilometre east. The hike involved some light bushwacking and a few pitchy hills. By the time we arrived at the Old Baseline Lookout the wind had really picked up making our time on top a little shorter. We enjoyed lunch in the lookout with the protection it offered from the wind.

Despite the strong wind during our descent from the ridge we thoroughly enjoyed the views on the way to Hwy 752. Our round trip track log showed a distance of 12.8 kilometres. TFTH and the pictures are on the way.

infoA virtual cache is a cache that exists in a form of a location. Depending on the cache "hider," a virtual cache could be to answer a question about a location, an interesting spot, a task, etc. The reward for these caches is the location itself and sharing information about your visit.

Because of the nature of these geocaches, you must actually visit the location and acquire the coordinates there before you can post. In addition, although many locations are interesting, a virtual cache should be out of the ordinary enough to warrant logging a visit.

Virtuals are now considered waymarks on Waymarking.com.
