[green]1 5 0 0 0[/green] Yeep! Yippee! Hourra ! We did it!
When I first saw this event listed on the Groundspeak Weekly Newsletter back in January, I told my very dear BellaTerra that this could be a great place to go for our upcoming milestone. We also talked about this event to our friend Galaad and she was as much excited as us to experience a winter campout in a lean-to. So we planned to come in Long Lake, NY for this exceptional weekend full of events, caches and geocachers!
It is only by 17:30 that we hit the trailhead with our packs and sleds. Temperature was about 33F and It was snowing a bit. Perfect for us! Almost a couple of hours later , we finally arrived at the lean-to where Russel M was waiting for the first to come . Just standing at about 500' of the lean-to do we had a bit of trouble finding the proper access to the island so after a couple of turnouts we decided to simply go by the lake .
Once arrived, we installed our sleeping bags and happily had a good hot meal previously cooked by Galaad . We even had carried a good bottle of wine to seriously celebrate this special occasion !
After a while, the rest of the gang arrived. Some by the same trail as us and some other lucky ones by snowmobile . Some intrepid people installed their campsite at the back of the lean-to while others were trying to fit their sleeping bags in the lean-to. Actually, we finally packed 7 people in there . Not too bad for winter time!
Then we had the pleasure to meet and chat with people gathered near a warm fire. Many thanks to those who brought the wood :surprise:.
At around 10:30PM, most went to sleep with the fire slowly extinguishing. The not really cold night went well with coyotes, full moon, some light snow, unavoidable snoring guys and all the likes .
At about 6:30 the camp awoken and a bit later the first hot coffee cups were tasted.
Then, as all the good things usually have an end, it was time to return. It has not been too much difficult  to accept a kind invitation to enjoy a snowmobile trip back to our car! Yes! This is part of the winter fun!
I want to specially thanks GPS Guy for organizing this event. We really appreciated our winter campout with all of this wonderful gang of passionate geocachers!
Many thanks for the congrats too :cute:! It was quite a nice sync to have 15 people gathered for a 15k milestone.
Salutations du Québec .
