BCP109 Mount Cory
N51° 11.024’ W115° 41.540’
I started out the day with big plans, a brass cap on Cory, a few Earth Caches in Banff and to finish it off another brass cap at Georgetown. What foolishness, by the time I got back to the car after getting to the brass cap on Cory I could barely walk! My total trip log was 6.5 kms with an elevation gain of 971m, so that elevation was gained in 3.25 kms and that is steep! I was unsure of the route so I ended up using the watershed to the west of the rib I should have been on for the first hour. It felt wrong and I managed to get up on the proper trail with much struggling up extremely steep scree chutes – sure glad I didn’t have to come down that way. The weather was kind of scary also with a huge wind and snow threatening, I almost gave up 3 times but persevered to finally gain my objective. I took me 2 hrs 10 min to get up and 2 hours to get down and I am exhausted.
Thanks for selected this very challenging cap for your cache page ofth, it truly is in a spectacular place!
