Out and about with my good mate WhiteFriar on a generally pleasant day, though a few drops of rain did fall on us briefly. An extremely cold start saw me scrapping frost off the car but it did warm up, though in exposed areas the wind provided an unwelcome chill factor. An inglorious end to the day as we became embroiled in a horrendous traffic jam. Eventually, reaching a roundabout, we aborted the proposed last cache and headed for home in merely bad traffic. That excluded, a very good day that focused initially on collecting challenge caches but also mopped up some solved puzzles, Church Micros, SideTracked and just the one high terrain cache.
See my web page http://www.15ddv.me.uk/geo/chal/jazzyjessups_challenges.html#123 for a list of qualifying caches. We had this well planned out. WhiteFriar would retrieve the cache while I stayed in the car ready to vacate the area if a bus appeared. Well, WhiteFriar had the cache in hand in moments and passed it in for me to sign and this is where the fun and games started. The log didn't initially want to come out and then a good thwack on the bottom saw it shoot out and straight into the wormhole terminus that is the gap down the side of the driving seat. As with many other objects (mainly pens) that have taken that route it was irretrievable. A new log has been left but, as has been noted, the cap is missing, so maintenance is still required. At least no bus came along while we were there!
PS. Did not see it had been disabled until I came to log it the day after.
